Gerard Gibbons
Once upon a time… Gerard Gibbons, a young mojave desert lad, was exposed to diverse worlds of classical composition, hollywood scores, broadway musical theater, cabaret jazz, and rock and roll. All genres resonated with him. He knew that somehow he just had to participate in this goodness. He fancied becoming a musician and chose guitar since it seemed much easier to hide than a drum kit. Rather than partying he picked up his instrument and practiced, practiced and practiced some more.
Infected by the 60’s and 70’s British Invasion, Gerard was particularly inspired by the works of David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Emerson, Lake and Palmer and Eric Clapton. From lead guitar/vocals in glam rock bands, to power trios to unplugged ensembles, he managed to continue integrating music into a multiplexed professional life as an eye doctor, filmmaker, video director/writer and brand storyteller for global companies and the U.S. department of defense. He used music to foster emotional connection at the core of his creative and technical work.
Today, performing with The Story is particularly satisfying for Gerard. He loves the energy, joy and bond that results from creating with Chris Hagemann (vocals) and Gulia Gurevich (violin/viola). The Story’s unique acoustic alternative interpretations of contemporary and classic hits are appealing, fun and fresh to a diverse audience.
